Nations

Most DnD worlds have countries in them. So does this one! Gedberst is one of a few continents on Ers (also called "Earth" sometimes, for convenience' sake). In the "present day" there are four Human Dominated Countries, Three Dwarven nations, Three Elven kingdoms, and Dozens of nomadic orc tribes in the north, that aren't currently under a high king.

Human Countries

Humans generally went east to west over time. For a brief overview, Rekdomark (formerly "the republic of man") was founded by the first humans on gedberst, A later group crossed a large mountain range to found Gardmark (now split into Norgard and Sodgard after a civil war), and during the "long winter", the mountains of Krigsberd were conquered and organized into one nation by half orc royalty.

Dwarven Nations

All the dwarven nations were formerly part of a single kingdom, "The Dwarven Empire", which was ruled by The Kad'Zur, a powerful half giant. Kustveg in the north still claims to be this emprie, though it holds only the northernmost part of it in the mountains. Sudbak in the south was the first to break away from the empire, and was able to revolt due to it's ports giving it economic independence, and the defense of an ancient bronze dragon they allied with. Berveg, between the two other dwarven countries, was able to break away due to its control of the "sun road" a popular pilgrimage and trade route. Which allowed Berveg to fund a large army and support itself via imports.

Elven Domains

The elves used to live in a single kingdom called The Wode. During the long winter, The Wode was invaded, and the elves lost faith in The Evlenking, resulting in many breakaway elven kingdoms from within The Wode. The Heynwode is the name for what's left of the Elvenking's realm, it enjoys many of the protections that the wode did before the long winter, but is in near constant turmoil due to low trust in the elvenking. The Dyrythin Highlands are a breakaway nation that made an alliance with an orcish general in return for protection of their independence. The Tyrnas Vale is a small seperated nation of wood elves (elves who gave up their magic to leave The Wode) it is closely allied with Rekdomark, who's king is married into their nobility.
